A sailing yacht manufacturer with roots connected to Columbia Yachts, the Islander name first appeared in the 1960s. The highlight product created by the company was the Islander 36 admired for its speed and attributes as a weekend yacht. Accounting for the Islander 36 production alone, the Islander yacht company has sold 650 vessels. Islander concluded production in the mid 1980s after a brief stint building sailboats in Costa Rica.
