First building sailing vessels in 1964, Newport Boats originated in the state of California constructing fiberglass-hulled products. Building small day sailing vessels such as the 8-foot Flipper and the 11-foot Blue Crab, larger cruising sailboats produced by Newport Boats ranged up to 27 feet in length. Newport Boats became Gloucester Yachts after the 1981 model year.
