A company founded as part of a Stanford University business project, MacGregor Yacht Corporation was initialized in the 1960s. Based in Costa Mesa, California, Macgregor has attracted the interests of 36,000 customers thanks to an affordable pricing and proven sailing performance. While most MacGregor boats are designed to permit easy towing on a trailer, the company regularly produced a 65-foot luxury yacht from the mid-1980s to the 1990s. Prior to 1981, the sailing boat company was known as Venture/MacGregor Yacht Corporation.
