Fort Myers Yachts started solely as a sailboat builder in the early 1980s before adding the construction of powerboats several years afterward. Producing a boat originally acquired from Whitby Boat Works, Whitby 42 would evolve into the Brewer 42 and Brewer 44 sailing ketch. The final year of production for the Fort Myers Yachts marine company occurred in 1991.
