A Rhode Island-based marine business producing powerboats, sailboats as well as rowboats, Sturdee Boat Company was founded in 1947 by Ernie Gavin. Surviving a 1988 fire that severely crippled their production, the Sturdee Boat Company was rebuilt and thriving afterwards even as the business’ founder fought cancer during the 1990s. Building boats between 8 and 16 feet in length, Sturdee Boat Company vessels rely on the timeless character of simple marine design. While Sturdee Boat Company products enjoy a classic look, modern materials such as fiberglass assure vessels can handle even rough waters.
