The 1998 Mazda line-up gains two newly-redesigned vehicles. An all-new larger Mazda 626 is offered in four trim levels and is offered with four-cylinder or six-cylinder powerplants. Ideal for light towing and hauling, the 1998 Mazda B-Series truck line is granted a complete styling overhaul. A new suspension and longer wheelbase accompanies the refreshed appearance of the compact Mazda truck. Regular cab and extended cab versions of the 1998 Mazda B-Series are offered with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. The Millenia, Protege and MPV are largely unchanged for 1998. With a second-generation 1999 Mazda Miata arriving early in the 1998 calendar year, the sports car skips a model year. The Mazda MX-6 sport coupe has been dropped from the product line-up for 1998.
