The Pontiac vehicle line-up for 1998 comprises of six products. The 1998 Firebird, a sports car that is deeply involved in furnishing Pontiac's appearance as a sporty brand, has gained retouched styling and an upgraded V-8 engine for 1998. The new 5.7-liter LS1 V-8 powerplant available with the Firebird Formula and Trans Am models features revised performance resulting in 305 horsepower without Ram Air and 320 horsepower with Ram Air. Changes to the remainder of the Pontiac line-up are few for 1998. Redesigned in 1997, the Pontiac Trans Sport enters 1998 with some minor trim changes. Dual-sliding doors is now offered on the regular length model while an available power passenger-side sliding door is also new. Anti-lock braking system is now standard equipment on the Pontiac Grand Am.
