The 2001 model year marks the end of the line for the long-running, dependable Jeep Cherokee. For 2001, the Cherokee remains available as a two-door and four-door body style. A six-cylinder engine is standard during the final production year of the affordable yet versatile sport utility vehicle. In honor of the 60th anniversary since the production of the original Jeep, the Wrangler has prepared a special commemorative package as standard equipment on the Sahara. 60th Anniversary Edition 2001 Jeep Wrangler models include special badging and are heavily loaded with standard features. The Cherokee and Grand Cherokee also join in the celebration of the brand with a 60th Anniversary Edition package. Transmission reprogramming has also taken place on the Grand Cherokee for smoother power delivery in 2001.
