In addition to the coupe and cabriolet version of the Porsche 911 flagship powered by a flat-6 engine, the 2001 model year delivers an extra kick from the German sports car maker. For the first time since the 1997 model year, there is a Turbo version of the Porsche 911. The 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo uses a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine borrowing traits from the Le Mans-winning Porsche GT1 race car. Generating 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, the 911 Turbo comes standard with all-wheel drive, bi-xenon headlights and large 13-inch vented, cross-drilled disc brakes. Six-speed manual and a five-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission is available with the new high-performance Porsche 911 model. Porsche Stability Management is added as optional equipment on the 2001 Boxster providing a level of electronic protection against overly sharp cornering. A mild interior refresh has been performed to the 2001 Porsche Boxster.
