Nissan emphasizes growth for the 2003 model year. Featuring a bold look, the Nissan Altima enters 2002 is a built on a bigger, all-new platform. With the 2002 Altima redesign, Nissan has promoted the sedan to the mid-sized vehicle category by extending the vehicle's total length by 5.7 inches. For the first time, a six-cylinder engine is available on the Nissan Altima. A similar 3.5-liter V-6 engine to the Altima's is also added to the 2003 Maxima but enjoys greater horsepower output to maintain its high-end sport sedan persona. The new engine on the Nissan Maxima complements a retouched exterior appearance and added features for 2002. Serving as enticement for the younger sport compact crowd, the 2002 Nissan Sentra is now offered in an SE-R trim. Powered by a potent 2.5-liter engine, the SE-R Spec V model is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. New for 2002 is a Frontier Crew Cab Long Bed is now offered with a full-sized 74.6-inch bed box length.
