For 2003, the Lincoln line-up has been radically updated with every model being either all-new or refreshed. A new addition to the Lincoln luxury division is the Aviator. Based on the same platform used by the Ford Explorer mid-sized sport utility vehicle and sharing its appearance with the Navigator, the 2003 Lincoln Aviator is only offered with a 4.6-liter Modular V-8 engine but is available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Returning as a redesigned model for 2003, the Lincoln Navigator has been retuned to greater passenger comfort with features such as power running boards. A more potent 300-horsepower V-8 engine was also found on the 2003 Lincoln Navigator. Also re-engineered for 2003 is the Lincoln Town Car that gains new sheetmetal, suspension and larger wheels. A mid-cycle restyling of the Lincoln LS wears an updated grille and new taillights. The 2003 LS's V-6 and V-8 engines both receive a power enhancement while the manual transmission is no longer available. Permanently absent from the Lincoln lineup starting in 2003 is the Continental. Selling poorly in its only year of production in 2002, the Lincoln Blackwood truck has been withdrawn from the luxury brand.
