Having discontinued the Firebird after 35 years of production, Pontiac enters 2003 with more focus on their small car line. Pontiac's rhythm for 2003 comes from a new car called the Vibe. The four-door hatchback is a sporty, well-equipped compact with an optional six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive. Created through a partnership with Toyota, the Pontiac Vibe uses a near identical engine to that found in the Corolla. The Pontiac Sunfire model undergoes a major revision for 2003 started with the discontinuation of the four-door sedan. Remaining available only as a two-door, the 2003 Sunfire has received a new front and rear end treatment while a restyled interior includes an updated dashboard. All 2003 Pontiac Sunfire models are powered by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder Ecotec engine. The coupe version of the Grand Prix has been discontinued leaving only the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am four-door sedan remaining. In order to reduce the price of the Montana, Aztec, Sunfire and Grand Am, anti-lock braking system has been moved to the options list for 2003 base models.
