Crossing the 100-year mark of production last year, Buick enters 2004 prepared to undertake their first new vehicle in their journey to a distant yet possible bicentennial. Buick adds a truck-based sport utility vehicle called to Rainier to the brand for 2004. Offered as a luxury utility with five-passenger seating, the 2004 Buick Rainier is available with six-cylinder or eight-cylinder power. Optional V-8 power with the Rainier becomes the first Buick since the discontinuation of the Roadmaster in 1996 to feature that engine layout. Buick's crossover utility Rendezvous is enhanced for 2004 with a new Ultra trim level. Along with amenities such as 17-inch aluminum wheels, XM satellite radio, heads-up display system and leather seating, the 2004 Buick Rendezvous Ultra is powered by a new 3.6-liter engine. The Ultra version of the Rendezvous is solely an all-wheel drive model for 2004. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on all Buick Century models for 2004. The Buick LeSabre, Regal and Park Avenue is maintained largely unchanged for the 2004 model year.
