With the demise of Oldsmobile, General Motors has begun to regard Saturn as a more mainstream badge for 2005. The introduction of the Saturn Relay minivan represents entry into an all-new market for the brand. A seven-passenger family hauler with available all-wheel drive, the Relay has become the brand's first product not to feature dent-resistant polymer side panels. The new minivan's arrival also came with the demise of the LW300 wagon. The Saturn Ion is heavily revised for 2005 marked cosmetically by a larger front grille and new wheel covers. The manual gearbox and VTi continuously variable transmission available on prior Ion models has been dropped for 2005. The Saturn Vue and the L300 Sedan have been left largely unchanged for the 2005 model year.
