First-time, budget-minded car buyers and families will be most compelled by the changes made to the Kia line-up for 2006. Kia has completely re-engineered their entry-level vehicle for the 2006 model year. Lengthened for greater rear passenger legroom and cargo space, the 2006 Kia Rio line sporty new style of the subcompact is available in a sedan as well as the Kia5 hatchback. Kia's minivan, the Sedona, enters its second generation as a longer but lighter vehicle. The seven-passenger 2006 Kia Sedona comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a five-speed automatic transmission. Lighter weight for the 2006 Sedona results in better fuel economy while standard features such as side curtain airbags allow the minivan to tout family safety. The Kia Amanti flagship sedan gains a standard leather interior and sunroof for 2006. Cruise control is added to the standard feature list for the Kia Spectra SX sedan and Spectra5 for the 2006 model year. The 2006 Sportage and Sorento sport utility vehicles receive no major changes.
An affordable compact with seating for five passengers, the 2006 Kia Rio is available as a sedan or hatchback wagon and easily cruises to a fuel economy rating above 30 mpg around town and on the highway.
