A series of major changes has been made to the Saab 9-3 lineup for 2008 that includes the vehicle's first application of all-wheel drive. Developed specifically for the brand in partnership with fellow Swedish company Haldex, Saab XWD is an advanced all-wheel drive system featuring electronic differentials capable of sending wheel momentum from the front to the rear when needed. The turbocharged V-6 powerplant available on the Aero versions of the 9-3 receives some increased potency in 2008. Horsepower production on 9-3 Aero models grows from 255 to 280. In addition to the major mechanical enhancements, the 2008 Saab 9-3 also receives an updated front end design. For 2008, the Saab 9-7X adds an intimidating, new high-performance Aero model. Along with the addition of a sport suspension and 20-inch wheels, the 2008 9-7X Aero's key feature is a 390-horsepower, 6.0-liter V-8 engine.
