For 2009, the Saturn Aura midsize sport sedan adds a new XR trim level with a 2.4L inline four-cylinder engine that produces 169 hp and 160 lb-ft of torque, paired to six-speed automatic transmission to help boost fuel economy; this powertrain is also available on the base XE. Alternatively, a more powerful 3.6L V6 engine with an output of 252 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque is available on the XR trim level. Both XR trim levels now feature standard leather-appointed heated seats, and Bluetooth hands-free technology is standard on XR and available on the XE. Inside, the Saturn Aura's roomy, five-passenger interior is distinguished by premium materials and excellent fit and finish. Saturn Aura fuel economy is EPA-rated at 22 mpg city/33 mpg hwy and 26 mpg in combined driving for the I4, but drops to 17/26/20 mpg for the V6. Standard safety features on the Saturn Aura include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. Passenger sensors, new for 2009, improve front airbag deployment.
