2009 Subaru Impreza Sedan
Following last year's redesign, the compact four-door 2009 Subaru Impreza Sedan receives few changes. The Impreza 2.5 i is powered by a horizontally opposed 2.5L four-cylinder engine pushing out 170 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque, while the Impreza 2.5 GT has a turbocharged version of the 2.5 i engine generating 224 hp and 226 lb-ft of torque. Subaru Impreza Sedan specifications list all-wheel drive and a passenger capacity of five. Transmission choices are either a five-speed manual transmission with incline start assist or a four-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control; however, the 2.5 GT offers only the automatic transmission. EPA fuel economy estimates are 20 mpg city/27 mpg hwy and 22 mpg in combined driving for the non-turbocharged manual-shift trims. The automatic transmission gets 1 mpg less on the highway for base trims, and the 2.5 GT trim scores 19/24/21 mpg. Standard safety features are stability control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints that help mitigate whiplash.
