Following the redesign last year, the 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon gets an upgraded 265-hp engine, a stiffer suspension and the aero body package that includes front and rear spoilers. The WRX is powered by a 2.5L turbocharged engine that delivers 265 hp and 244 lb-ft, while the STI version blasts out 305 hp and 290 lb-ft and comes with an exclusive six-speed manual transmission. According to Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon specifications, both engines send their power to all four wheels. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the WRX ranges from 18 mpg city/25 mpg hwy and 21 mpg in combined driving to 17/23/19 mpg for the WRX STI. The WRX STI boasts front and rear limited-slip differentials, upgraded suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, aggressive sport seats with Alcantara upholstery, bold styling, a CD changer, SI-Drive and a three-mode system to allow modulation of throttle response. Standard safety features include stability control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints.
