The 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup takes many forms of the ¾-ton truck in the GMC full-sized truck lineup. Sold in Work Truck, SLE and SLT trim levels, GMC has added some luxury touches for the 2011 Sierra 2500HD branching the Denali name onto the company's heavier duty trucks. While Work Truck trims features more basic equipment such as air conditioning and electronic stability control, luxury-themed Sierra 2500HD Denali is appointed with leather seating alongside other high-tech features. The entire GMC Sierra 2500HD lineup comes standard with a gasoline-fueled Vortec 6-liter V-8 engine sporting up to 360 horsepower and 380 pounds-feet of torque. For greater power, an advanced 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8 produces 765 pounds-feet of torque at just 1,600 RPMs. Assured a high-powered take-off, the turbodiesel is mated with an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission. Both engines can be combined with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive capability. While the gasoline Vortec V-8 has an exceptionally high maximum towing capacity of 14,700 pounds when combined with a two-wheel drive short box regular cab, the 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel engine betters that performance at towing 17,800 pounds.
