For 2012, the Jeep line-up expands the use their powerful performance ally, the Pentastar V-6 engine. Already found standard on the Grand Cherokee, the powerplant is now part of the refreshed Wrangler. The 2012 model year version of the Jeep Wrangler boasts greater off-road capabilities with the potent Pentastar engine and the addition of a five-speed automatic transmission. A manual gearbox with the Pentastar V-6 equipped 2012 Wrangler is the first time the powertrain combination is matched. Also making major powerplant news with Jeep is the 470-horsepower, 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 used to power the all-new Grand Cherokee SRT8. Two special versions of the Jeep Wrangler will be available in 2012. A Wrangler Arctic model is a specially-equipped version of the Sahara while a Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition will be offered with the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. A 2012 Jeep Liberty Limited Jet model is also issued with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, blacked-out headlights and chrome accents. Patriot and Compass models equipped with a continuously variable transmission gain gearbox calibration improvements for smoother power delivery.
