The compact Volvo S40 sedan and V50 wagon have been dropped for the 2012 model year. Volvo supplements the loss of the S40 with a new lower-priced S60 model propelled by a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine. An all-new S60 R-Design model was also added for 2012 presenting a unique performance character matched by 325 horsepower of engine output. The 2.5-liter engine and a similar R-Design treatment to the S60 have also been added to the XC60 crossover vehicle. As performance gains are presented with the S60 and XC60 with turbocharged six-cylinder engines, Volvo has officially dropped support of V-8 power in the 2012 lineup with the discontinuation of the engine in the XC90. For 2012, Volvo S80 and XC70 touts the brand's Sensus infotainment system. On the smaller Volvo cars, the 2012 C30 features revisions to its optional equipment packages while the C70 adds standard Bluetooth.
