2013 Ford F-150
NADAguides Test Drive Review

For 2013 the F-150 has been refreshed with new features and packages. Any negative notions regarding pickup truck drivability are laid to rest by minimal cabin noise and a smooth ride (due to the long-single double wishbone and coil over shock independent front suspension). The pickup’s weight is well balanced, further improving drive quality by limiting sway, enabling nimble maneuvering at all speeds, and smooth acceleration.

Sleeker than ever, the exterior is comprised of tightly fitting panels, firm lines and square edges. A bold grille with steel grey coloring is partnered up with aggressively shaped headlights, giving the front fascia a fierce look. Ford offers thirteen exterior colors; including Blue Jeans, Blue Flame, Tuxedo Black, Race Red, Green Gem, Kodiak Brown, White Platinum, Sterling Gray, Pale Adobe, Vermillion Red, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, and Ruby Red.

Under the hood drivers will find a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, yielding 420 hp at 2,500 rpm, for a steady supply of power. Seamless gear changes, responsive braking, and tight handling further accentuate performance. Fuel economy for the 4x4 trim falls within an EPA estimated range of 15 mpg city to 21 mpg highway.

Ford's engineering is at it's finest within the interior of the vehicle. Every element is built with quality materials and constructed to withstand rough treatment. Wood and leather accents add a touch of luxury to the ergonomically friendly cabin that is easily accessed in the four-door super crew cab trim level. Rear passengers have plenty of legroom and overall comfort is phenomenal due to easily adjustable seats and steering wheel. The steering wheel is the perfect size for the vehicle boasts leather wrappings with controls for Bluetooth, voice command, and tilt telescope adjustments to help remove obstruction of important panels. Interesting features include adjustable pedals, remote start, hill start assist, MYKEY, power sliding rear window, and automatic dual-zone climate controls.

Newly updated, the Microsoft SYNC is technologically evolved when it comes to the F-150. While the SYNC system is a bit fickle, it still provides convenient features. It's important to learn the voice commands to ensure optimal usage. Additional features include rearview camera, audible reverse sensors, ventilated/heated front seats, keyless entry/start, a Sony sound system, and a full-size spare tire.

A well-rounded vehicle that blends utility and comfort, the F-150 is a fun vehicle that can be used for every day driving. A decent turning radius, lack of blind spots, and parking assistance enables drivers to easily handle the trucks rather large size. Whether it’s time to work or time to play the 2013 F-150 combines versatility and dependability, all while offering a truly enjoyable driving experience.
