Mitsubishi Motors enters 2018 with several major changes to their United States product lineup marked by a new crossover vehicle as well as the discontinuation of long-running nameplate. After 16 years in the United States market, Mitsubishi has ended production of their Lancer compact sedan last year. The loss of the Lancer means the Mirage is the only available car from the Japanese brand for 2018. A 7.0-inch touchscreen display audio system and backup camera is now included standard on the base Mitsubishi Mirage ES. Mitsubishi revives their Eclipse moniker for the 2018 model year. Previously applied to the brand's sports cars, the name is revived on a compact crossover vehicle. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross provides practicality while also including sport cues such as its aggressively raked rear window. The new Eclipse Cross comes with all-wheel drive product powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. Presented with an updated front and rear design as well as a new center console, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is available with a modern continuously variable transmission with the larger 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The larger Outlander sport utility adds a touchscreen audio unique with Bluetooth for 2018.
