The Toyota truck lineup for 2018 might seem small, but the Tacoma and Tundra are plenty capable of standing up to competitive lineups filled with light and heavy-duty trucks. For the model year, both models get the new Toyota Safety Sense P as standard equipment. This safety assistance system adds essential driver-focused technologies to each truck, including adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, emergency braking, lane departure assist, pedestrian detection, and more. Toyota made a slight adjustment to the Tacoma’s base powertrain, dropping the five-speed manual transmission and making it only available with a six-speed automatic. For the Tundra, the year brought some new styling to the front end as well as a new package – TRD Sport – with sport-tuned shocks, anti-sway bars, sporty exterior styling elements, and 20-inch wheels. Toyota dropped the TRD Pro trim level and the regular cab option from the Tundra line.
