About FX50

When INFINITI created their second-generation FX line-up for 2009, the FX50 became the new top-end crossover. Featuring styling that evolved from the radical appearance of the prior FX first marketed in 2003, the 2009 FX50 was longer and wider than its predecessor. A long hood exhibited with heavily curved bodywork and a low center of gravity presented the FX50 crossover with the athleticism of a sports car. High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, LED taillights, 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and the application of chrome accents gave the exterior of the 2009 INFINITI FX50 a bold, premium look. A new Scratch Shield clearcoat paint also debuted on the FX50 that can self-heal minor scratches. The 2009 FX50s propulsion was sourced from a new powerplant from the Nissan/INFINITI VK line of engines. The 5.0-liter V-8 engine generated 390 horsepower and utilized VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology for improved torque and fuel economy.

Standard-equipped with a new seven-speed automatic transmission featuring a manual shift mode, the FX50s ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system operates like a rear-wheel under normal driving conditions. Attention devoted to controlling road noise and vibration benefited occupants of the INFINITI FX50s interior compartment. Featuring genuine hand-strained Maple wood and piano black trim, standard features inside the 2009 INFINITI crossover included climate controlled front seats, RearView Monitor and an 11-speaker Bose Premium audio system with six-disc CD charger. The exterior and interior design of the INFINITI FX50 was tweaked for 2012 including a revised front fascia. After the 2013 model year, INFINITI adopted a new vehicle naming structure that resulted in the FX50 being integrated into the QX70 for 2014.
