About LX
Serving as Lexus' maiden sport utility crossover vehicle was the LX 450. Launched for the 1996 model year, the Lexus LX 450 was the mechanical equivalent to a well-equipped Toyota Land Cruiser complete with a same six-cylinder engine. Suspension tuning and features such as standard leather seating were some characteristics defining the Lexus LX from its Toyota-badged counterpart. For 1998, a redesigned LX premium sport utility vehicle gained a 4.7-liter V-8 engine and more individualized Lexus luxury features. Adaptive Variable Suspension and Automatic Height Control were specially outfitted for the new Lexus LX 470. A four-wheel drive premium vehicle, the 1998 LX 470 came heavily-appointed with leather seating, wood trim, front and rear air conditioning as well as a six-disc in-dash CD changer. A navigation system became as an option for the 2001 model year while an available night-vision system was rolled out for the 2003 model year along with a new transmission. Ten years after the last major redesign, the Lexus LX premium sport utility vehicle was completely remodeled for 2008. Receiving a 5.7-liter V-8 engine generating 383 horsepower mated with a six-speed automatic transmission, the 2008 Lexus LX 570 continued to represent the ideals of a luxury utility flagship. Lexus Enform technology was added to the LX 570 in 2010 and was updated in 2013 coinciding with a minor styling update. Another significant upgrade to the LX 570 was performed in 2016 featuring a retouched spindle grille, enlarged multimedia screen, Lexus Safety System + and eight-speed automatic transmission.
