The 1998 Grand Am by Pontiac boasted new next-gen airbags and revamped addable options. A redesigned Grand Am graced showroom floors in 1998, offering a long list of new standard equipment and options, and a completely revised exterior. The 2000 Grand Am offered an improved engine, an updated interior and new optional packages. Audio upgrades, a wheel upgrade and new body colors were keynotes for 2001. Two new exterior colors were added with some shuffling of trim levels for 2002. All models got OnStar, except SE, for 2003, and the trims were all updated to reflect new options. Only minor changes were in store for 2004, with the sedan model and four-cylinder Base engine being discontinued in 2005.
