About Avalon Hybrid
Toyota's aggressive championing of hybrid drive technology was extended to their Avalon sedan flagship in 2013 as the vehicle received a complete redesign. The longer and more attractive 2013 Toyota Avalon sedan became the recipient of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system used in the popular Camry Hybrid. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine was combined with an electric powertrain operating off a 245-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack. Channeling 200 horsepower through an electronic continuously variable transmission, the Toyota Avalon Hybrid was able to achieve combined city/highway fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon. Power moonroof, backup camera, leather seating and an eBin sliding electronic device holder with dual 12-volt outlet came standard on the 2013 Avalon Hybrid. The Toyota Avalon line-up has been treated to a major refresh for the 2016 model year with the Hybrid model gaining a new XLE Plus base trim and LED headlights.
