This French manufacturer is one of the oldest car companies in the world, having been founded in 1882 by Armand Peugeot. The first vehicle was built in 1889 and was steam powered until 1890, when they began to take advantage of the internal combustion engine. Peugeot sales began to falter in the North American market starting in the late 80's and on through the beginning of the 1990s. They pulled out of the US market in 1992 and have not returned.
