Initially known as Hendee Manufacturing Company, Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company was an American motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1901. Known for their roadster style bikes, Indian Motorcycles was the largest motorcycle manufacturer during the 1910s. The company eventually went bankrupt in 1953, resulting in a number of successor organizations adopting the Indian name.
