Founded in 1947 and settling into Coffeyville, Kansas during the 1950s, trailer company Comet became a long-lasting name in the recreational vehicle industry. Building travel trailers through roughly four decades, later years of Comet production also included a line-up of fifth wheel vacation ranging up to 35 feet in length. Comet was also involved with the construction of park model units for a brief time. The production of Comet trailers was forced to an end after the 1981 model year when the company was impacted by bad economic times.
