In 1963, transit and school bus producer Blue Bird Company entered the recreational vehicle industry with Wanderlodge Class A motorhomes. Vehicles converted from a Blue Bird bus chassis ranging from 31 to 45 feet in length, Wanderlodge motorhomes were outfitted with premium content including a full kitchen, washer/dryer and high-tech sound systems. In the 1970s, Wanderlodge motorhomes could even be purchased with a highly innovative back-up monitoring system. After 46 years of recognition as a luxury coachbuilder for customers that included many elite names, Wanderlodge ended production of gasoline and diesel motorhomes in 2009.
