First building Class A motorhomes in 1968, Sportscoach recreational vehicles existed as a luxurious option for campground living. In 1978, Sportscoach was acquired by Coachmen RV but continued to operate as a unique product entity. Incorporating modern engineering for its time, Sportscoach 24-foot to 38-foot motorhomes were heavily equipped with home-like luxuries on chassis frames propelled by gasoline and diesel powerplants. Sportscoach ended operations after the 1993 model year but Coachmen RV would reuse the Sportscoach name to identify a motorhome line in the late 1990s.
