Volkswagen’s most significant changes in its 2019 lineup occurred with its passenger cars. Most notably, a redesigned Jetta stands out with a curvy new look, responsive handling, a standard turbo inline-4 engine, and an all-new trim level, GLI, with a more powerful version of the engine, a sport-tuned suspension, and a lowered body. The Passat gets a few minor changes, like the dropping of the GT trim and standard driver assistance technologies like blind spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. New to the 2019 Golf is an engine with slightly less horsepower than previous versions, new transmission options, and an available Driver Assistance package with adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams for the SE trim. VW also surprised many with its announcement that 2019 would be the last year for the Beetle, but its Final Edition comes in two trim levels, has a standard turbo four-cylinder engine, and includes a Fender audio system and leather seating.
